Walk Walk Walk
One of the easiest ways to exercise is to walk. It’s good for pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, and motherhood. All you have to do is put one foot in front of the other! No equipment needed!
I’ll have to admit, I wasn’t in to walking that much pre-pregnancy. But toward the end of my pregnancy, when intense workouts took too much out of me. A good walk on the treadmill with the incline cranked up, felt great. I ended up taking my husband’s weightlifting belt and wrapping it under my belly for support. It made the impact of my steps feel better. There are several belts made for this purpose, but I only really needed it at the end and only on the treadmill.
One of the very first things I did after Joey was born was to walk with him in the stroller. I was SHOCKED at how hard it was! I was winded on the 2nd block. I had to walk a lot slower than I anticipated. But it felt GREAT and Joey loved the fresh air and change of scenery. Within a few weeks we were crusing right along.
Now, 7 months later, it’s still a great way to get a workout in and feel like I’m spending time with Joey. Something I struggle with working full time. It’s also winter in IL, so that makes it difficult. Joey gets all bundled up and gets some much needed fresh air. And I have to go at a quick pace to keep myself warm.
Remember, working out does not need to be complex all the time. If you wanted to workout and nothing is going your way (plans, mood, time), try just going for a walk around the block. Pushing the stroller (if you have little ones) adds some “resistance” for ya’!
Walk, walk, walk!
